Gastric Cancer

Definition:
Are malignancies of the stomach. (Gastric carcinoma)
Causes and risk factors:
There are different types of cancer can occur in the stomach and the most common is adenocarcinoma, which refers to how the cancer looks under the microscope and there are different types.
Adenocarcinoma of the stomach is a common cancer of the digestive tract occurs throughout the world
The diagnosis of this cancer is often delayed by the absence of symptoms in the early stages of the disease or by self-treatment of symptoms that may be common to other less serious gastrointestinal disorders such as bloating, gas and bloating.
Risk factors of gastric cancer are:
Family history of disease, helicobacter pylori infection, blood group A, prior history of pernicious anemia, a history of gastritis, chronic atrophic, a disease that reduces stomach acid, and a prior history of adenomatous gastric polyp.
Treatment:
Surgical removal of the stomach (gastrectomy) is the only curative exist, although radiation therapy and chemotherapy may be beneficial.

Expectations:
There is a wide variation in prognosis of gastric tumors. Tumors in the lower stomach usually heal more often than tumors in the upper (gastric cardia or gastroesophageal junction). The depth at which the tumor invades the stomach wall and whether lymph nodes are involved influence the chances of cure.
