Interferons. Interferons help the immune system to fight cancer and also can slow the growth of cancer cells. An interferon produced in a laboratory, called interferon alpha (Roferon-A [2a], Intron A [2b], Alferon N), is the most frequently used in cancer treatment. Interferon alpha is used to treat non-Hodgkin lymphoma, hairy cell leukemia (hairy), kidney cancer, melanoma, chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Kaposi sarcoma. What is immunotherapy?

Immunotherapy (also called biologic therapy or biotherapy) is a type of cancer treatment that uses the body’s immune system to fight cancer. Doctors and researchers are unsure on how to treat cancer immunotherapy. However, think that can act as follows:

- to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells;
- to prevent the cancer spreading to other parts of the body;
- to help the immune system more effective in eliminating cancer cells.

Medicare Part D is all about the prescription drug coverage available within the Medicare program. To help cover the costs of prescription drugs, Medicare Part D was created under the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. Enrollment in Part D is voluntary, and anyone who has original Medicare or the newer Medicare Advantage, is eligible to enroll in Part D.

Prescription drug coverage is offered by private insurers using stand-alone prescription plans for those persons who have original Medicare coverage and for those with the latest Medicare Advantage it is provided through their respective HMOs, PPOs, and PFFSs . If you already have prescription drug coverage through private health insurance like Medigap, or through your employer or former employer’s health plan, you can usually decide to keep it.

Should you elect to enroll in the Part D menagerie, you’ll be facing private companies that offer Part D coverage programs of their own design. So now you need to choose between different plans that offer different lists of medicines, and all at different Medicare Part D cost. The monthly Medicare Part D premiums, are in addition to the premium you pay for Medicare Part B. Plus Plan D has a deductible that has gone to the record high of $310 for 2010. And if that’s not bad enough you will pay a co-pay amount per prescription that varies with each insurer.

TREATMENTS OF LUNG CANCER

WHAT IS IT?

The lungs are a pair of organs that give oxygen to the body and expel carbon dioxide, a waste product produced by the body’s cells. Not all lung cancer cases are caused by snuff, but the fact is that the vast majority of cases it is. One of the best ways to avoid it is to quit smoking or simply never start smoking.

Lung cancer is not caused only by cigarette smoking, but also because smoking pipe and joints.
